Watch Under the Banner of Heaven on Hulu for $1.99/m

Hulu is having their annual Black Friday sale right now until Monday. It is $1.99/month, and you can cancel anytime. So if you have been wanting to watch "Under the Banner of Heaven" or "Mormon no More", this is your chance. I do this every other year. I cancel when the year is up and price goes to ...

The Wire

Wow, what a good show: "The Wire" on HBO. It is a VERY NSFW show, with more F and N words per hour that any show on TV. But very good acting, and great story lines. TLDW (Too Long Didn't Watch): Police, politicians and Drug gangs battle for the streets of Baltimore.

Re: The Q-15 has a safety net. How would it work in a crisis?

I believe the church is a "corporate sole", where the CEO/Prophet has sole authority as far as the business of the church goes. Rusty could theoretically decide to turn all the chapels into homeless shelters and there is nothing the Q15 could do.

Re: Is there value in clergy/penitent privilege?

CES does not think there is any value to clergy/penitent privilege. They now require all new BYU employees to sign away those rights, allowing the bishop to tell BYU anything he is told during confession as part of his/her yearly evaluation.

My dyslexia kicked in and I thought you were talking about de-magnetizing therapy. I thought it was some crazy magnet therapy with the magnet on a wristband!

Re: Under the Banner of Heaven TV show

Here is my Hulu hack. Every year during Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) Hulu has a sale. Last year it was $0.99/month for an entire year. The year before it was $1.99/month. I subscribe for a year at the discount, then when it's going up to 5-6/month, I unsubscribe for a year, then get the sal...

Tokyo Vice

Tokyo Vice on HBO MAX is really good, and has a Mormon angle! I’ll keep is vague so as not to spoil anything, but one of the characters was a Mormon missionary that didn’t go home, and just stayed in Japan. Hints are made in Episode 4, with the background coming out in 5. Not a major theme in the sh...

Re: God’s Intervention

Could Pascal's wager help you? Pascal argues that a rational person should live as though God exists and seek to believe in God. If God does not exist, such a person will have only a finite loss (some pleasures, luxury, etc.), whereas if God does exist, he stands to receive infinite gains (as repres...

Re: Did anyone else hear voices?

I attended a leadership meeting the Boyd Packer back in the 1980. The only thing that I still remember was him saying he had never seen a Heavenly being, and had never heard an audible voice in response to his prayers. The point he was making was that we should just go with our feelings (Holy Ghost)...
