I remember the seminary movie of this. Maybe it was a generic Christian film my teacher used, but there was a film.
Why does it seem like someone has to die in the vast majority of old seminary "movies?"

I wonder... [chin-scratching-emoji]

I've been waiting since this thread began for someone to post this BYU study: (I found the link in a thread on "another" message board as I was too lazy/scare to go searching for it...) Religious Conflict Makes Porn Bad for Relationships Directly from the article: seeing oneself as addicted to porn ...

If a medicine exists that placates bad behavior by substitute without expiration then there is no healing, only supression. Hey Bonfire: My doctor says I have high cholesterol, and that I should take medicine, or I might die. He says I'm going to have to take it for the rest of my life. Since my me...

Re: Did anyone else hear voices?

So, there is more difference than just that you can tell the difference. But I thought you understood that real hallucinations are a sign of mental illness. Sorry Alas, I'll try to stop joking with you and go back to part of my original statement comparing dreams an hallucinations: All of them are ...

What other similarities are there? What about polygamy/child brides? I'm no expert on the Muslim part of this comparison, but I do recall excerpts here and there of folks accusing Muhammad of pedophilia? Is/(are) there young girl(s) associated with the Mohamed story? (Insert :puking-smiley: here.)

Re: Did anyone else hear voices?

I also asked him if hallucinations were like dreams and he said no, very different, but had a hard time articulating what the difference was. It was a difference in experience, like describing what salt tastes like. Yeah, so in essence: Dreams are a "different form" of hallucinations. Got it! :P

I think we are commanded to love everyone. It doesn't mean you have to like them. This is almost an exact quote from someone close to me. I love everyone. I just don like everyone. (The saying definitely popped into my head while reading Linked's OP.) ETA: If so, what should love be? I have similar...

I agree that it's important to prioritize possibilities according to available evidence. This is one of those situations where I genuinely feel sorry for both Matthew and Gerrit... Though not my initial reaction, sadness has become my reaction after seeing these posts, reading about them and having some hours to ruminate. Sadness for both of the Gong's. That being said, I must type tha...

Re: Did anyone else hear voices?

What's the difference between a hallucination and a dream? If you're hearing and seeing stuff that's not there when you're walking around I think that pretty neatly fits the definition of a hallucination. However, there are two kinds - probably the most common - that happen in a sleep state when pe...

I really feel for people stuck in polygamy today. If you spend some time listening to the "Year of Polygamy" podcast, or watch some documentaries about current polygamists, or do some reading of books written by polygamists: There are a LOT of polygamists who don't feel "stuck" in polygamy at all. ...

Another bit of a thread-jack...

Do folks who are believers in the "restoration-ist" movement put much credence in "where" some "famous prophet" like John the beloved might be buried?

I understand Catholics with their sainthood-type-stuff "caring" about such things, but MORmONs?
