Re: Hans and Brigitta Mattson, 2nd and 3rd Witnesses for the 2nd Anointing

Also, what do you think of the possibility that 2nd-anointees use "proxy" names when they arrive at the temple to ensure their anonymity in case of discussions like the one we're having here? Code names were used in Joseph Smith's day by people in the inner circle to protect their identities. A dir...

Re: Donald Trump A Most Noble President

I would like to see how long a Democratic president would be tolerated by Democratic leaders if he told lies as frequently as Trump. While visiting Michigan this week, Trump retold the lie of how he was awarded the Michigan Man of the Year Award. How brazen of liar can you be to utter such a lie in...

Re: Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

Not sure where the streets are, but the location scouts really chose well. This really has the look and feel of 1938 going for it. The cars in this film are something to behold. Nazis, zoot suiters, an Aimee Semple McPherson-type character, an angel and devil, the Aroyo Seco Parkway (first freeway i...

Re: RFM has Big Day at Utah Records Committee Hearing!

Wonder if BYU will comply? I suspect they will appeal to a level where strange handshakes and religious gang signs are flashed during the ritual proceedings.

BTW, kudos to RFM for being the sharpest cookie in the virtual room.

Re: Theodemocracy in theory

I remember my Utah history class in 7th grade and learning about the Kingdom of Deseret. Somehow that has gotten written out of Utah history and now they call it the "State of Deseret". I suppose they want to avoid mention of the title King Brigham. There could be many forms of government worse than...

Watched three episodes in three days. That zoot suite dance number in episode three was totally worth the price of admission. I am really impressed with the quality of acting in this show.

Totally. I've never seen the press so freaked out by and so against any president in my life.
That applies not only to the press but the majority of the world. Trump is totally unpresidented, bigly!

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

I saw the first episode of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels tonight. Has anyone else seen this show? I was trying to imagine Natalie Dormer as the angel with the drawn sword. Natalie plays the antagonist, the counterpart to Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte, the angel who lovingly receives the dead.

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 19

Consider these Book of Mormon “came to pass” stats:
Phrase Times Used
Came to pass 1,355
Come to pass 90
Cometh to pass 2
Total 1,447
The scribes doth wroteth this phrase mightily. Yea, verily, yea!

I like the Catholic idea of small individual sacramental wine cups with foil lids. Keeping a six-pack in the fridge for pandemics would come in handy, as would a box of Ritz crackers.

Re: Church wants more Christ-centered artwork in buildings

I applaud the effort to make the LDS Church more Christian. All that peculiarity brought on by secrecy over illegal practices (no, I am not including nude clogging in the Temple) and general overboard reverence of things made up did not enhance the Church. Looking at depictions of a Norwegian Jesus ...

I was going through an old archive and found one from some guy with a beard (ancient prophet?). What he said sounded profound, "I do not always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis". Take that Corona!!!

Re: Horrifying Initiatory Story on Reddit

There was a female poster on Beliefnet a number of years ago who thought the worker got a bit too handsy during the veil part. On the other hand, perhaps the veil worker simply had bad spatial perception and was not certain where various parts of the human anatomy were located.
